The Kilkenny County Development Board has developed a shared ten-year vision for the County through a comprehensive consultative and participative process.

The measures and actions contained within this strategy have been designed to promote the coordination and integration of services in County Kilkenny and to facilitate the delivery of joint actions and programmes between state, local agencies and local voluntary and community bodies.

In framing a local economic, social and cultural development strategy, the Board has been mindful of the need to remove the obstacles that cause communities and individuals to be excluded from the new prosperity our country is experiencing.

Where appropriate, this strategy allows for the deployment of a regional response to policy issues.

The opportunities and challenges faced by communities today have changed and grown in a way that could hardly have been envisaged ten years ago. For the first time through this strategy, a determined lead is being taken to frame a coherent programme of action that reflects the aspirations and concerns of the Community and those who care about them.
